Home-Start believes that children need a happy, secure childhood and that parents play the key role in giving their children a good start in life and helping them achieve their full potential. Home-Start Kennet provide home visiting volunteers as the core part of the service.
Home-Start knows how hard being a parent can be, particularly during the early years, and that any additional pressure can make things seem overwhelming.
Volunteers, who have experience of parenting, visit families in their own homes once a week for a couple of hours to offer informal, friendly and confidential support. Families, who have at least one child under 5, are often referred to Home-Start by their health visitor, Children's Centre or GP, but they may contact the scheme directly.
Supporting families with a child under 5.
As well as our home visiting support, we are offering group support called "Moving In Moving On" or MIMO to military or veteran families returning to the UK. Details on our website or Facebook page.
Home-Start Kennet are always recruiting home visiting volunteers to support families. Please get in touch if you feel you can help.
