Training for Carers
As a carer you will want to provide the best support for the person you care for. Specific training may help you understand the needs of the person you are caring for and how you can best support them. Carer Support Wiltshire coordinates a training network of organisations which work together to develop and deliver training to carers.
Training is offered to informal unpaid carers and covers many aspects of caring. You can learn more, gain insight, receive help and support but most of all be informed. Many topics are covered, including:
- manual handing
- basic first aid
- benefit awareness; managing money and paying for care
- computer training
- mental capacity act
- dementia training
To look at the most up to date training and education programme visit the Carer Support Wiltshire website or, if you are a Young Carer, go to the Spurgeons website. There are also several e-learning packages, funded by Wiltshire Council, covering the following subjects:
- Understanding Autism
- Carers Awareness
If you work in a public sector organisation in Wiltshire and would like access to any of these e-learning courses please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
