While the majority of the care provided for people with dementia comes from informal carers, people with dementia are significant users of formal care services too. Formal care is provided by care workers, nursing staff or other health and social care professionals. It can constitute personal care, helping the person with everyday tasks such as getting washed or dressed, or can consist of medical or nursing care. The exact nature of formal care and who is responsible for providing it will depend on the care settings and the individual's specific needs. The following organisations provide care and support for people with dementia and their carers in Wiltshire.
Alzheimer's Support Wiltshire are contracted to provide community services to people with dementia in Wiltshire. These services include support at home, Dementia Advisors, Day Care, Activities, Carer support groups and Wellbeing groups. These services are available to everybody.

Carer Support Wiltshire works to help carers in their caring role. They provide a range of information and support, including having workers who can make home visits. They also organise a number of events, activities and groups where cares can relax, find out more about being a carer and talk to other carers who are in a similar situation.
