Getting Out and About in Wiltshire
     
Car going to day centre   Most people are expected to make their own transport arrangements; this could be by bus, taxi or community transport.
     
Taxi, bus, minibus and train   If getting about in the community, having a job or going to college is identified as an eligible need, the council will work with you to find the best way of meeting that need.
     
Map of Wiltshire   The council can also help by telling you what local transport is available in your area.
     
Green Minivan   The Council will only provide transport or money to get you to a service if you are assessed as needing this type of help and are eligible for a service.
     
Who can get Help to Travel to Care and Support Services?
     
Person in Wheelchair   People, who are eligible for care and support services, do not automatically get support to travel to use them.
     
Person Working   If getting about in the community, having a job or going to college is identified as an eligible need, the council will work with you to find the best way of meeting that need.

  • receiving and using welfare benefits that could pay for these journeys

  • Able to use community or public transport services, before any help with travel is provided.

Pile of Money   An amount of money will be included in your Personal Budget to cover transport if it has been agreed you need this and meet the criteria.
     
Bus stop   If you do get money for travel you can only use it to get to the service the Council says you need to attend, like a day centre.
     
What Transport is there for me to use?
     
Link logo   Link Schemes (Volunteer Car Schemes)-these are local schemes run by volunteers that can help people get about such as:

Person carrying shopping bags   Shopping
     
Person in hospital bed   Visiting relatives or friends in hospital
     
Day Centre   Luncheon clubs or Day centres
     
2 friends stood next to eachother   Social visits
     
Handfull of money   There may be a small charge for this service.
     
Bus   Public Transport -
these include Buses, taxis and Trains
